Methodology

How we arrive at the figure.

A valuation using the EBITDA multiples method: the multiple always stays between 4× and 8×, depending on the sector and the company's risks, and cash is added to the result and debt deducted.

Step 1

Normalised EBITDA

It starts from the EBITDA for the last financial year and removes what will not be repeated: owners' pay above market rate and extraordinary costs. This is the basis a buyer uses.

Normalised EBITDA = EBITDA + owners' adjustment + non-recurring costs
Step 2

A multiple between 4× and 8×

The multiple always stays between 4 and 8, the reference range Smart's uses for SMEs. It starts from the sector's position and is adjusted for the company's risks.

Multiple = sector starting point (5.0× to 7.0×) ± risk adjustments, limited to 4×–8×
Step 3

Cash and debt

Cash is added to the multiplied EBITDA and financial debt is deducted. The result is a single indicative value.

Indicative value = normalised EBITDA × multiple + cash − debt

Limits and privacy

What this estimate is, and what it is not.

It is not a valuation

  • It is an indicative estimate, based only on the data you entered, which we have not verified.
  • It is not a valuation under the International Valuation Standards (IVS): there is no document review, no due diligence and no valuer's judgement on your specific company.
  • It cannot be used for tax, accounting, court, financing or inheritance purposes, or for partners joining or leaving.
  • It is not financial, tax or legal advice, nor an offer to buy.
  • The 4× to 8× range is a reference for SMEs; the price of a real transaction depends on the buyer, the payment terms and what due diligence finds.
